It was mostly 4G but sometimes it was 2G. It worked in Amsterdam and UK just as it did in Prague. It has an English webpage, you can find sims for 200 Czk with 200 Czk credit at grocery stores and tobacco shops that sell sims, and top it up at any ATM. However, you can't charge it up online from outside of the country without a Czech bankcard.
Credit or debit card - doesn't matter. I can go weeks with under 100 CZK in my wallet in cash. Cards are accepted almost everywhere, and if you happen to go to a restaurant that doesn't take it and find out too late, they will let you run to an ATM - happened to me at Cantina not long ago. Best is to have a contactless card - that is the norm here.
