Best chimney cake we found was on the street near the lower cog wheel stop, cooking them over charcoals and not gas. My favorite was the hazelnut covered one. No iced cream with it was possible ( which is good as I think iced cream would ruin the light and crispy texture of the cake.

Traditionally it's supposed to be cooked over fire, so the chimney cake bakers I'm aware of are just a wooden cilinder at the end of a fairly long metal stick.
